What inspired your brand?

I  live on the Roots and Tides Scenic Byway in Southern Maryland. I walk our four Boston Terriers each day on one of the many local boardwalks down on the Chesapeake Bay. So I was inspired but not just seeing the rising and falling of our local tide each day but also all the rich nautical history in the local area.

Where are you located and can I come visit the shop?

Currently I reside in Chesapeake Beach. We do not have a dedicated shop space currently.

What is your response time to inquiries?

Please keep in mind that by purchasing yarn from Rising Tide Fiber Co. you are supporting a small business  run by one person. Each order is very important to me. I do my very best to have excellent customer service, but bear in mind it is impossible for me to offer service similar to e-commerce giants like Amazon. If you have any concerns about your order, please email me and allow up to 24 hours for a response to your inquiry. Typically the wait will be far shorter, and I will be more than happy to answer your question or solve your problem as quickly as I possibly can.

Do you accept Returns or Exchanges?

Every effort is made to represent our yarns and colorways accurately, but please remember that screen pixels vary, so a colorway may look slightly different in person. Some colorways are simply difficult to photograph but we try our very best to represent them well. Colors in real life could appear bit darker or lighter than what appears on your screen. If you have any questions prior to purchasing please feel free to send us a conversation or email. We're happy to clarify any of our colorways to help you find exactly what you're looking for!

Choosing yarn and fiber online can sometimes be difficult, so we will accept returns of non-custom orders for shop credit only. Refunds will not include return shipping costs. All returned items must be in their original condition. If you'd like to return something you need to contact us within 7 days of receiving your item and you need to ship the item back to us within 30 days from the date you received it. If the item is shipped after this time any return agreement will be voided.

While we are not responsible for lost or damaged items, we will make every effort to track down your item if it has not arrived in a reasonable amount of time.

I ordered the Monthly Subscription Yarn. When will it ship?

My goal each month is to ship the monthly colorway on the 15th of each month. If all goes well I try to get them out early. For example, if you order the June yarn colorway, it would ship June 15th.

Can you dye a custom color for me?

It really depends on what you're looking for and what my dye schedule looks like for that current season. If I have time, then I am happy to dye custom colorways. Just email me at Melissa@risingtidefiberco.com.

A colorway I want is sold out, will you be listing more?

I try to restock as items get low, but cannot guarantee that a colorway will be available. If you see something you like but it sells out, you need more than what is available in-stock, or you like the colorway but need it in a different yarn/weight, you can order it dyed-to-order through the website. Unless a colorway says that it is Limited Edition, Exclusive, or OOAK, it is repeatable and can be dyed for you on any of our yarn bases.

I'm a Yarn Shop Owner interested in doing a trunk show. Are you open to doing Trunk Shows?

I would love to help your shop host special events featuring Rising Tide Fiber Co. Maybe your shop would like to feature a new colorway line, try a new base, try out some special kits or display some samples; let me know what you are thinking and I’m happy to help make that idea happen!

If you are interested in hosting a product launch trunk show or a sales trunk show, please reference my policies below. I try to schedule out at least 30 days in advance so please contact me when you think you might be interested in an event. Please note, RTFC does not consign products to yarn shops, these events are a partnership between us for a sales promotion event.

Trunk Shows Policy

Rising Tide Fiber Co. is happy to set up a trunk show to help launch the yarn at your shop or if you are a current customer we can assist you with bringing in a new base line to your shop. I’m happy to work with you to bring a selection of yarns and colorways and help launch and promote the products for the special event.

If you aren’t a currently a Rising Tide Fiber Co. customer (or haven’t placed a wholesale order in 12 months), I suggest a 70/30 split for the trunk show otherwise current wholesale pricing will apply. We will provide a written list of all goods provided, including the wholesale and our online retail prices, so that you can easily check what has sold and what, if anything, is being returned.

If travel is required for the trunk show, the shop will cover the travel/lodging expenses. A $500.00 commitment is required for a trunk show sales event with a $200 prepaid deposit due at time of booking. Please contact me at Melissa@RisingTideFiberCo.com for scheduling and other information. Payment for goods sold is due at the end of the trunk show.

I'm a Designer and I'm interested in yarn support. Do you work with Designers?

I adore seeing designs in my yarns. If you are a crochet or knitting pattern designer working on developing a pattern with Rising Tide Fiber Co. yarn, please feel free to contact me via email at Melissa@RisingTideFiberCo.com providing the following information:

  • Sketch of your design (I just need an idea of your plan—no artistic talent necessary).
  • Clear photo of a swatch of your stitch pattern (using our yarn is helpful but not required).
  • Detailed description of your project
  • Project timeline.
  • Contact info and Ravelry username.
  • Your choice of yarns/colorways and quantities requested.
  • Compensation level you are requesting.
  • Information/links to your previous designs or portfolio of your fiber arts designs.
